I Am a Procrastinator and I Have Been My Entire Life

“The Beginning is the Most Important Part of the Work” -Plato-

Procrastinate the Procrastination

Procrastination is a character flaw that I have dutifully swept under the rug for the past 30 years.

I have practiced this behavior in all aspects of my life…

…and I think I may have figured it out. I’m just going to procrastinate the procrastination…

…they will cancel each other out. Right?

I decided to lift up the rug….

…and began to sift through the debris of procrastination that I have hoarded for way too long.

Which corner of the rug did I lift first?

I lifted all four corners…and in the very center I found the dustiest spot.

Its the only spot that was neglected the most and lived there the longest. There it was…Something that…

I was gifted at birth, fell in love with in youth and dreamed of its potential as a young adult.

Then almost over night it seemed to drift further and further from my spirit…

…until I didn’t recognize it anymore. I was giving away my…

Creative Talents

Most of my friends and family are aware of these talents. They would get little blips here and there…

…some fleeting….some prolonged.

What they didn’t realize is that I would borrow them back only to return them to the pile shortly after out of fear and mental conditioning.

It was about a month ago that I lifted the rug and to my surprise they were still there…

…my creative talents.

Today I am on day 40…I have been creating a piece of artwork daily as a journal entry or movable piece…

I was born to be an artist and create beautiful things on a daily basis…it was ‘My’ gift meant to be used every day of life. To nurture my spirit and those around me…

So lift the four corners and make the decision to Procrastinate the Procrastination.

We must challenge ourselves to create daily.
